It is bordered on the north by Tucson International Airport and on its west by the Tohono O'odham Nation. Sahuarita lies to its southeast, paving the way to the Coronado National Forest.

With only 550 people per square mile, neighborhoods in Summit are pretty low density, but you'll still find a few areas where you'll be able to chat over the back fence with your neighbor. Most homes are single family homes or mobile homes, however you'll find one or two small complexes where you can rent an apartment. Here are some of the main neighborhoods found in Summit:
L-S Acres: Enjoy unobstructed views of the Arizona sunset as it sinks over the cholla and chaparral desert directly west of L-S Acres. You'll find a mix of small single family homes, double wide mobile homes, and single wide mobile homes in this small neighborhood just west of the Nogales Highway.
St. Katherine Court: St. Katherine Court lies on the west side of the Nogales Highway. The neighborhood is mainly well-kept single wide mobile homes set on small fenced lots with mature shade trees.
Southside Industrial Sites: Just across the Nogales Highway from L-S Acres, Southside Industrial Sites are home to recycling, automotive and other industrial businesses. Two rental homes in this neighborhood have three and four bedrooms.
Sky Line Ranchos: Towering saguaros and mature shade trees characterize this neighborhood. Single family homes up to 1,500 square feet sit tucked back in well-established foliage on large fenced lots. Construction in this area dates from the 1970s. Both single and double wide mobile home rentals are found in this neighborhood as well.
San Pedro Estates: One acre lots have a mixture of single family homes built since 1990 and double wide mobile homes. The low housing density and wide-open desert to the west make this a good place to watch the sunset from your backyard.
Turner Acres: Set on Summit's southern edge, Turner Acres stretches along the western side of the Nogales Highway. The neighborhood consists of two-acre lots facing the highway. Buildings on the lots range from multiple single wide mobile homes sharing a lot to single family residences of more than 2,500 square feet and dating back to the 1950s.

You'll find everything you need along the Nogales Highway in Summit, from a gas station, groceries and movie rentals, to health care and auto repair. You won't have to go far to enjoy Arizona tourist attractions, either. Summit is just 7 miles southeast of Mission San Xavier del Bac, also known as the White Dove of the Desert. The mission is the oldest European structure preserved in its entirety in the state of Arizona and contains mural paintings and statues dating from the 18th century. Woo Lady Luck at the gaming tables of several nearby casinos. The closest -- Desert Diamond Casino -- lies just 3 miles north of Summit and you can catch a free shuttle to two others about 7 miles west. If the Great Outdoors is your idea of a good time, you'll find trailheads and forest roads leading into the Coronado National Forest just 15 miles southeast of town.
