Brawley is a southern California town just 70 miles west of Yuma, Arizona, 95 miles southeast of Palm Springs and 130 miles east of San Diego. Known for its cattle and feed industry, the town hosts an annual Cattle Call Rodeo. Beginning in 1908 as a "tent city" of only 100 or so people who worked on the railroad, the town quickly switched to agriculture and began to thrive and grow rapidly. By 1950, the population had grown to almost 12,000 people. Today, it has a population of 24,953, according to the 2010 census.
Finding Brawley property rentals isn't difficult as long as you plan ahead. Knowing that you'll have to do some research before your move--and start your search at least a few months ahead of time--will make the move go much smoother. Look for places to rent with the help of a realtor or apartment broker to save not only time and frustration, but money as well.
Most of the town is considered to be part of the Orita neighborhood. A few other smaller communities make up Brawley.
Orita: A mammoth swath of land that encompasses and surrounds the other neighborhoods in Brawley, Orita is a mixture of owners and renters. Most people live in small houses, although studio apartments for rent can also be found here. Luckily, rent prices here are lower than the California average.
Center of Town: The center of town is surrounded on all sides by Orita and could be divided up into smaller neighborhoods, although they don't have distinct names. Around Main Street, you can find apartment buildings and other rental property options. The area around the Brawley Municipal Airport is a more suburban area if you'd prefer to find places to live in that have a little more room around them.
Every November, Brawley celebrates its agriculture and cattle culture with a multi-day Cattle Call event. Beginning with a chili cook-off, the events also include a night of cowboy poetry, a Cattle Call parade and a Mariachi Night. Queens, Teen Queens and Princesses are also crowned for the event.
Shop at Duffy Dog Books or Green's Jewelry, or grab a bite to eat at local faves Brownie's Diner or A Thing Called Cake.
