The community of East Pasadena is a part of the oldest suburb in Los Angeles -- Pasadena. The area is also home to some of Pasadena's most historic business establishments, including The Pasadena Ice House, the oldest comedy club in the country. Now that's something to laugh about!
East Pasadena is a census-designated and unincorporated community located in the county of Los Angeles, CA, and is part of the greater suburb of Pasadena. At the time of the last major census, the total population was at about 6,100 people. East Pasadena is just several miles west of the city of Arcadia and roughly ten miles north of the city of Los Angeles. That means even if traffic is congested -- this is the greater Los Angeles basin, after all -- you can be in the heart of downtown LA in 30 minutes. There are several major mountain peaks only a few miles north of East Pasadena in the Angeles National Forest, including Mount Baldy and Mount San Antonio. So get ready for some views!
Moving to East Pasadena
Don't pass East Pasadena by! There are many great options here at affordable prices. You'll find a mix of rental possibilities, including rental houses, studio apartments, premier apartments and lots of single-family homes to choose from. You should be sure that you give yourself a good chunk of time to find a place in East Pasadena though -- a month or so at the very least would be ideal. As with any community close to Los Angeles, rentals can go very quickly. This one is popular, too -- convenient both to the national chain stores, boutique shops and galleries of Pasadena's heartline, Colorado Boulevard, and the world-class Norton Simon Museum, as well as a straight ride down the 110 freeway to businesses, museums and shops in LA itself.
Where should you look? In person is always a good way to go, and with the East Pasadena area sunny and warm year 'round -- well, winter is theoretically the rainy season, so bring an umbrella -- you can look anytime. You can look into online listings, as well as the local newspaper, The Pasadena Star, or rental listings in the region's major daily, The Los Angeles Times.
Pasadena area landlords can be notoriously picky about renters, so make sure to bring the kind of information most landlords will require today: your current ID, credit report and bank statements or W2s.
