Grover Beach was originally known as the Town of Grover, founded in 1887. The name underwent a number of changes from The City of Grover to The City of Grover City - a bit redundant - and then became Grover Beach. The surfers finally won that debate! According to the 2010 US census, the population is 13,156. Miles of untamed and unpolluted beaches and the home of the famous Monarch Butterfly Preserve between Grover Beach and Pismo Beach. The mild Mediterranean climate with temperatures ranging from 17C to 23 C between April and September makes this a favorite stopover for Spring break and annual holidays. The beach is the main attraction in town. However, if you ever get tired of the beach activity, the Spring Garden Tours are available - admission free. See the beautifully manicured private gardens and pick up tips for your own. Demonstrating artists and Master Gardeners are scheduled to be on site. Try the Dinosaur caves along the coast. Supercool with a large playground and plenty of parking.
The city is also great about hosting events to bring together community members. There is a Free Summer Concert Series every year from June to September, and you can also see the Stone Soup Ethnic Music Faire each summer. This event features a 5K / 10K Dune Run, food and crafts and sounds of Latin, African, Australian, Scottish, jazz and country-western music. Dancing in the streets are enjoyed by all!
