Juniper Flats Road / Sky Mesa Road: This is a suburban neighborhood by density, where you'll find mobile homes, single family homes and some smaller apartment buildings. Many residences were built between 1970 and the present, and here you'll find a vacancy rate that's higher than average, so finding the property you love may be a little easier than in other areas. Like golf? Living here you'll be just a few minutes away from Highland Palm Golf Course. Time to tee off.

Nearby Diamond Valley Lake is a premier recreation destination for this area. It's a man-made reservoir, one of the largest in Southern California, with over 800,000 feet of water and three dams. There's a science center at the lake's East End, and the lake itself is open for you to go fishing, boating, or hiking along its perimeters.

Also not far away, in the town of Murrieta, you'll find Murrieta Hot Springs, perfect for basking and relaxing.

Once inhabited by the Cahuilla Native American tribe, Homeland was settled with Spanish land grants. In 1895, the Hemet Dam was completed on the San Jacinto River, creating a steady supply of water that led to the valley's developing into a solid agricultural area. A rail spur from Riverside led to the establishment of citrus and stone fruit orchards that the region is still known for. The Agricultural District Farmer's Fair is held in the area annually.

Another annual event is The Ramona Pageant, held just down the road in Hemet. This is California's official outdoor play, and productions began in 1923, making it one of the longest running plays in the U.S.

Homeland itself may be a quiet suburban community, but there's plenty to do in the region. Besides hiking, biking, boating and fishing at area lakes, there are other entertainment options in nearby Hemet just 13 minutes away. Besides the outdoor Ramona Bowl, there are Regal Cinemas and shops, restaurants, and boutiques as well as nightlife. A Metrolink station is forthcoming, and with it a planned community of shops and markets.

You'll need a car if you move to Homeland, since that's how the majority of residents get around. Riverside, the major city in the region, is a prime destination. Although Homeland is conveniently located close to the I-215 freeway, traffic patterns can make travel take longer than you'd expect in miles.
