Patterson is a small city located in Stanislaus County, California, just off Interstate 5. It is also a part of the Modesto Metropolitan Statistical Area. Known for its delicious apricots, Patterson holds a great event every year to showcase them. The Patterson Apricot Fiesta includes many different kinds of apricot-infused foods, drinks, desserts and games. Yes, you can get fresh apricots here as well! Patterson has even been the official site of the Fiestas Patrias Festival for the past two years. This festival celebrates Latin American culture and independence in mid-September.

Perfectly Patterson

Patterson isn't too big that it feels crowded, but also isn't so small that you feel secluded from modern conveniences. At the time of the last census in 2010, the population was around 20,000 people strong, and this number is still continuing to grow.

Patterson got its start back in 1844 when Governor Manuel Micheltorena acquired a Mexican land grant for the area. This grant allowed Patterson to exist from just east of present-day Highway 33 all the way to the San Joaquin River. Back then, there weren't many roads, so rivers were considered the major landmarks and borders of a place. The northernmost boundary was Del Puerto Creek and the Southernmost border was very close to where Marshall Road lies today.

The land where Patterson exists now was bought by John D. Patterson in 1866. Patterson Ranch Company took it over and divided the ranch land into multiple subdivisions for housing and business (who knows, maybe you'll find a spot there!). Patterson plotted the outline of the future town himself. Before Patterson, this area was just a lot of empty land (meaning boring). Talk about a moment for the history books!

John D. Patterson's goal was to make the town the best it could be. He modeled his city after great places like Washington, Paris and other successful and famous international cities. He planted beautiful trees of all kinds along major streets and flowers in open-space areas. Patterson was the first city in the county of Stanislaus, CA to incorporate in 1919.

Neighborhoods

Baldwin Road & Sperry Avenue: These quiet and well-maintained streets interconnect to form a border around some great rental apartment choices, as well as duplexes for rent and many options for a house rental. Located close to Floragold Park, Aprigold Park and Goldbar Park, you can easily enjoy some pleasant time outdoors here.

Moving to Patterson

It's as close to Paris as you'll get outside of France! Patterson is just six miles and includes a fairly dense population to form a pretty nice town.

Even today, the streets are well laid out and there's plenty of green space. Patterson is also the eastern ending point for the State Route 130 according to state legislation. Further legislation is in the works, indicating the possibility of a freeway linking the town to other cities, but in the meantime, Patterson is less than an hour from Modesto and Stockton.

And really, who would want to leave? Hang out at the community parks, enjoy local sports teams or walk the charming streets with shops, dining options, and cafes. Have an inkling to spread your wings? There's an airport as well. You can fly in and out of Patterson's very own airport in a small aircraft or private plane.
