Living in a shopper's paradise: Florin Mall, the first enclosed mall in the Sacramento area, was once located in the census-designated community of Vineyard, California. That mall has now been replaced by the outdoor promenade at Florin Towne Centre.
Southeastern Sacramento has many wine shops and some wineries, but its favorite vineyard grows people, not grapes -- that would be the community of Vineyard, California. Vineyard is part of Sacramento itself -- the Sacramento-Arden-Arcade-Roseville Metro area, to be exact. With a population of nearly 25,000, this community is one of greater Sacramento's most growing areas, a suburban enclave not far from Interstate 5 and Highway 99, and the vineyards and other agriculture of the region. Like the grape plants that it is named after, this community keeps on growing. From Mexican restaurants and small shops to attractive homes, Vineyard has expanded. And population? It has more than doubled in the past 10 years.
Moving to Vineyard
Just a few short miles away from the banks of the lovely American River, the Vineyard community has recently built over 20,000 new homes, parks and shopping centers. Definitely car oriented, public transportation is still available in the community. Vineyard's real estate is primarily modern, built in 2000 or more recently. Some residences were built between 1970 and 1999. Vacancy rates are low here, and small shops and stores are right in the neighborhood. Naturally, you'll want to allow about 30 days to look for a home here. Check out the local paper, search online and explore the community on your own so you can get a good feel for the neighborhood that will suit you best.
With a little time, you should have no trouble finding places to live in Vineyard, such as two-bedroom apartments for ren , a one-bedroom apartment for rent or a house rental. With such a range of housing to choose from, you'll be settled into your new abode in no time.
Neighborhoods of Vineyard
Being a census-designated place, there aren't many clearly defined neighborhoods in town. The community is mostly suburban, and most real estate here consists of medium-size to larger homes, townhouses and apartment complexes. Tree-lined streets and walkable paths are part of the lifestyle, so you'll enjoy a relaxing, peaceful feeling when you head home from work. And speaking of work -- while you'll want a car in this community, commute times are typically under 30 minutes.
Living in Vineyard
Green Games
At the WildHawk Country Club, located right at the border of this community, there are plenty of reasons to golf, including capacious greens. Continuing in the verdant spirit, check out the several neighborhood parks in the area, including Churchill Downs, with many excellent walking trails.
Administered by the Southgate Recreation and Park District, Vineyard's parks include recreation facilities, an 18-hole championship golf course and, of course, playgrounds and playing fields. The emphasis on green space is to create a walkable community, so tie up your sneakers and hit the trails.
Of course, in less than 15 minutes, you can be strolling the shores of the American River or going boating. The Delta area offers lovely grasslands and marsh trails, too.
Shopping Experience
Anchored by nationwide retailers but still including local boutique shops as well, the charming outdoor promenade of Florin Towne Centre was built in 2008, replacing the outdated enclosed Florin Mall. More than 35 stores and restaurants occupy this modern open space.
Community Spirit
Bunny breakfast for tykes? Tee ball try outs? Senior packages at the WildHawk golf course? Or how about afternoon "tee time" specials at the golf course? Day camps for kids, flag football for teens, and tennis programs for adults and youths -- this community has it all. From senior programs to youth and adult sports teams, there's a lot to do in Vineyard.
