A trading post was built in 1840 on the Adobe Creek starting what would become the town of Lupton. The trading post was built by Lieutenant Lancaster Lupton and, you guessed it, the city was later named after him.
To many Fort Lupton, Colorado doesn't seem like much. It is only four square miles and a measly one percent of that is water. But to the 7,377 residents that live in Fort Lupton, the nearly 175-year-old town is much more than a dot on the map. This rural community has the beautiful South Platte River to admire. It also anchors Boulder and Longmont, two of Colorado's largest cities. However, if you really want to get crazy, you can try out the town's recreation center. This isn't your ordinary rec center. Even though the town is just four square miles, you would think living anywhere in the town would be suitable, right? Not exactly. Aristocrat Ranchettes: The name says it all. Here you will find upscale Fort Lupton along with the Platte Valley Airpark not too far away.
County Road 16/29: This rural-type area is perfect for those who want to get away for a short drive. It features some windy roads and beautiful scenery, but construction is happening daily. New homes and businesses are popping up.
Living in Fort Lupton
If you look up Fort Lupton on a map, you just may miss it. It is that small, but don't let that discourage you. Everything is practically within walking distance. If you are not a fan of walking, the city bus can take you wherever you need to go. It is a growing city with a rich history, offering its citizens plenty of peace and harmony. There is a great mix of diversity present and, to-date, job growth is doing well in the area. This is one town that would make any person happy.
