Also known as the city with the funny name, there's nothing wishy-washy about North Weeki Wachee. Located in north central Florida, an hour north of Tampa and within proximity to the Gulf Coast, North Weeki Wachee is home to over 8,500 residents that are just as proud of their city's quirky name as they are of the local quality of living. Seminole for "little spring," the city's name is a reference to the area's abundance of aquatic resources and landmarks. The main thoroughfare through North Weeki Wachee is Commercial Way, which roughly bisects the city in two. Residential properties are the norm in North Weeki Wachee, so finding city apartments may prove challenging. That being said, expansive rental communities lie just adjacent to North Weeki Wachee in Spring Hill, about 10 minutes away.

Buccaneer Bay, an indoor water park, is also on the park grounds. Nearby, the 11,206 acre Weeki Wachee Preserve plays host to recreational activities such as hiking, biking, fishing, and boating. Local residents often pass the time by renting a canoe or kayak and going for a paddle on one of the many spring-fed rivers and lagoons. Finally, if one longs for the attractions and conveniences of the big city, Tampa is only an hour's drive south.
