Some locals may not know that although the land for Middleton was parceled out in 1863, an overflowing Boise River cut a new channel in 1872 and isolated the town on an island. The town ultimately moved to a new location in the 1880s and was incorporated as a city in 1910. Its certificate, however, wasn't issued until 1971.
Technically, Middleton is a city, and is located in Canyon County. However, its small-town feel and community vibes are most prominent. For example, most people recognize the name Sierra Jackson, who was a sprint car racer from Middleton. Ask around and most people can also tell you that Middleton is one of the oldest settlements in the state. In fact, Middleton had a stage station in the earliest days of the Oregon Trail, along with a post office in 1866 and a water powered grist mill in 1871. Although there is certainly plenty to do in Middleton, the city is also close to Boise, the state capitol and its largest city. In fact, it is just a 30 minute drive from downtown Boise. If you enjoy community events, you will have plenty of opportunities to get involved. Throughout the year, many residents attend Movies in the Park, the Harvest Festival, Push Cart Derby and other events.
Moving to Middleton
If you've decided to move to Middleton and look for rental property, you're in luck. The area is filled with great houses - from one bedroom apartments for rent to rental condos. To find apartments here, start by making a list of what's important to you in a home. Once you've decided what your priorities are, then browse through an apartments locator to find places that meet all your specific needs. Finally, make appointments to see potential apartments. This will help you ensure you like the places as much in person as you do in photos!
Once you've scheduled to see potential rental homes, it's time to prepare to apply for one. Gather all your financial documents like bank statements, tax returns, pay stubs, and copies of your ID. Also think about getting ready to put down a deposit on your apartment. A deposit will actually take the apartment off the market, guaranteeing your dream home will end up being yours. Finally, if you have any financial qualms about renting the apartment. think about renting with a guarantor. A guarantor has more money than you do, and they can guarantee the apartment financially should you ever not be able to pay for it or should something happen to the property that you can't afford.
