Lincolnshire is a rare suburb that provides local employment opportunities to its residents in lieu of commuting to Chicago. With several parks and recreational events, this village of 7,275 is a Chicagoland treat.
Lincolnshire is part of a desirable area of the Chicago suburbs that includes the towns of Buffalo Grove and Vernon Hills. Therefore, it can be tricky to find places to rent in Lincolnshire, and the places you do find aren't exactly cheap, as home values in Lincolnshire are three times the median home price of the state of Illinois. But then again, when you are in a nicely wooded, North Shore suburb of Chicago, that's part of the deal. The main rental properties in Lincolnshire are house and condo rentals; it can be tough to find rental apartments in the city limits. Two places to find condos and duplexes for rent in Lincolnshire are at the Jocic Development - North Shore Condos, which is located right by Interstate 94 on the east side of the village, and at Lincolnshire Place downtown.
Due to the exclusivity, demand and cost of living, you had better be prepared before moving to Lincolnshire. Income verification is a must, as well as having savings to pay the monthly rent on housing and corresponding security deposit. Security and credit checks are also part of the deal here, as living in the suburbs of Chicago isn't an easy process. But with the community events and the highly rated schools that Lincolnshire provides, those temporary annoyances are well worth it.
There aren't any neighborhoods in Lincolnshire, as the village is a carefully crafted mixture of subdivisions and parks.
West Lincolnshire: The western part of the city contains Lincolnshire's downtown (which is the area around Half Day Road, Olde Half Day Road and Milwaukee Ave) and the village's industrial parks are in West Lincolnshire, with both Aon/Hewitt and Newman/Haas headquartered off of Milwaukee Avenue.
East Lincolnshire: Six of the village's nine parks are located in the eastern part of town between Riverwoods Avenue and Interstate 94, while the remaining three are closer to the center of town by the Des Plaines River. Most of Lincolnshire's housing stock is located east of the river, giving most Lincolnshire residents easy access to the interstate. Convenient and luxurious -- not a bad way to go through life.
Besides the luxurious houses, duplexes and condos, the nine parks, the nature reserve in the north central part of town and the top-flight schools, people move to Lincolnshire because it has a lot going on. While Chicago is great, one of the best cities in the United States, it's possible to stay in the Lincolnshire bubble and be completely content. Lincolnshire has several annual festivals, most notably "The Taste of Lincolnshire" and the Lincolnshire Arts Festival. The Taste of Lincolnshire is a takeoff of the extremely popular "Taste of Chicago" that's held in the city in the summer and has become quite popular in its own right, giving resident and visitors a taste of the best north suburban restaurants along with live music and a local pet show.
The Arts Festival allows local and regional artists to show off their creative talents and has picked up a nice following. The Marriott Lincolnshire Resort is also a focal point of local activity, as it boasts the Marriott Theatre and an 18-hole golf course open to hotel guests and residents. The Marriott Theatre hosts musicals and theatrical productions. The nine city parks have everything from an indoor nature center at Rivershire Park and Nature Center, athletic facilities at North Park, Olde Mill Park, Spring Lake Park and Whytegate Park to a nature trail at Balzer Park. And if you feel like getting out of town for whatever reason, then there's a city called Chicago not too far away that's kind of fun and has plenty of stuff to do.
