Lynwood is your typical small suburban town that has the best of both worlds: the proximity to Chicago means that you are close to everything that the city offers but you can still retreat to your own little haven of just over 9,000 people. You will find quite a few people here that have moved out of the city so if you are worried about being a displaced urbanite, relax. You have just found a great place to call home.
Moving to Lynwood
Finding apartments for rent in Lynwood is a pretty standard task. You can check online, drive around looking for signs or ask a friend. Once you find a place, renting it is a fairly quick and painless process. There is typically an application process and this is always true for apartment complexes. They will generally run a credit check, but you can offset this with references from past landlords. Pony up your first and last month's rent along with a hefty security deposit and you should be moving into your new place in no time. If you have a pet, expect to pay for both a pet deposit and a monthly pet rental fee. The deposits for utilities run about average for the nation so you should have no worries there. There are no neighborhood designations in this town, so drive around and scout the place out.
Living in Lynwood
Once you are all settled into your new home you are going to be pleasantly surprised by the rich history and diversity that surrounds you in Lynwood. Be sure to stop in at the Warsaw Inn for a European buffet featuring Eastern European delicacies such as pierogi and blintzes along with stuffed cabbage and homemade pastries. If you are in the mood for a bit more spice, head over to Margarita's Mexican restaurant; they get rave reviews on Yelp! Looking for a quick bite? Lynwood has a New York style deli in Bergstein's NY Delicatessen. Their New Yorker is outstanding as is their Reuben. You haven't even left the town and already you have sampled food from around the world!
For nightlife you have come to the right little town! La Vue Bar and Grill is popular, loud and the perfect place to dance the night away. The drinks flow freely and the music is always hot in this part of the town. However if you are looking for something a bit quieter to just grab a few drinks with friends and catch up on current events, try the New Corner Bar and Grill. You can grab a bite to eat, have a few ice cold beers and relive that great picnic from last summer. Tom's Village Tap is a great bar but an even better place to watch the Cubs attempt to make it to the playoffs, again. This is probably the most popular place in town to watch the Cub in the summer and the Bears in the winter. Its Super Bowl parties are the stuff of legends!
There is no denying that the proximity to Chicago plays a huge part in the activities of the locals. While there are plenty of nearby shopping opportunities, everyone eventually heads to the city for both the cultural and entertainment amenities. There is plenty to keep you occupied in Lynwood but there is no reason to deny yourself the opportunity to hand out at the Field Museum and dine out at Alinea's if you have the chance. Then you can come home to the peace and quiet of Lynwood.
