Village Center: The village center of Matteson, which is technically its southeast corner, is the commercial center of the city. You can find most businesses and shopping areas here. Homes here are more affordable, but what you trade for in peace and quiet you make up for in price.
Western Matteson: Western Matteson is the most affordable residential area in Matteson. There's a good mix of homes and apartments there. It's farthest from Chicago, though, so if you need to commute, this is your least convenient option.
Let's face it - most people live in Matteson so they can be in Chicago. And it makes sense since the two are so close; they're only about 30 miles away. You can get to Chicago from Matteson via public transportation (it's not the easiest though, since you have to take trains and buses.)
