The three-day festival is usually held in October. Each year a different battle from the Civil War is chosen. School groups come to learn about the battles of Gettysburg or Franklin. In addition to military reenactments, the event offers non-explosive educational opportunities like weavers, blacksmiths, and a medicine show. There is also a fashion show with a variety of categories. Civil War Day is a nice complement to the city's bronze Civil War Monument.

What if reenacting explosions is not for you? Hartford City's Parks Department is booming and offers five different parks, each with the availability for explosive memories. Sigma Phi Gamma Park's 12 acres makes it the city's largest park. The Memorial Pool is a bit dated but is still popular, and the Waterworks Park consists of three sections. The fountain is most popular for kids to cool off in the summer. We mentioned Hoover Park before -- it is the most used park in the city. Hoover Park's entrance gate is perfect for photographs.
