Mulvane's Old Settlers Celebration has been taking place since 1873 (which is 10 years before the town was incorporated) and is one of the longest running community events in all of Kansas.
If you want to live in a small town that has a true sense of community, then Mulvane might be just the place for you. It's the sort of place where new neighbors are greeted with a freshly baked pie and everyone turns out for town events. Despite being a small community with a population of just 6,111, according to the 2010 census, the town's not all dust and tumbleweeds, you'll actually find a surprising amount of things to do to keep yourself occupied.
Moving to Mulvane
Relocating to a new town or a new home can be a bit of an upheaval, but moving to Mulvane is no more of a challenge than moving anywhere else. There's plenty of housing for rent in Mulvane, so it shouldn't take you too long to find yourself a property. It's a good idea to leave at least four to six weeks to find property rentals in the city. However, if you're the sort of person who has very specific ideas about what you want from a property, you may need to allow a little more time or be willing to compromise somewhat (ask yourself if you really need those gold faucets and that south-facing breakfast room).
Whether you're looking for apartment homes or larger houses, your landlord will usually ask for more or less the same things before you can move in. You'll generally need to show some ID, proof of income, rental history and credit history. It's likely that you'll have to pay a full month's rent upfront along with a security deposit, which will be returned to you at the end of the tenancy, as long as you keep the place in good shape.
Neighborhoods in Mulvane
Although the whole city of Mulvane only covers a little over 4-1/2 square miles, you might be surprised at how much difference there is between the neighborhoods. In some areas it's all tree-lined boulevards, green spaces and, well, more trees, whereas in other neighborhoods you'll be close to civilization and not too far from a good slice of pizza. There's pros and cons to every area, so it's really down to personal preference.
North Rock: This neighborhood is a little outside of town, so you'll be further from the main shops and restaurants. Homes here tend to be larger and set on bigger plots.
City Center: The center of Mulvane is a good place to look for city apartments. You may have less green space, but it sure is a convenient area to live in.
Rivera: This neighborhood mostly contains newer properties with a good mixture of houses and apartment buildings.
