Neighborhoods in Paris

Paris doesn't have specific neighborhoods (it's fairly small in size, after all). However, you can break the city up into directional clusters to see which section is best suited for your individual interests.

North: The uppermost part of the city features lots of great outdoor activities and hotspots, including Bourbon County Park, American Legion Park, Garrard City Park, and Stoner Creek Country Club. The northern section is within close proximity to Highway 68, which leads directly to downtown (and directly into Lexington).

Downtown: This is where you'll find the most beautiful architecture and easier walking access to downtown businesses and restaurants. If you like to stay in the thick of things, this is your best bet to begin searching for apartment rentals.

South: The southern tip has the fewest number of buildings and businesses, so if you long for some peace and quiet, this is a good section to search for places to rent in Paris. Houston Oaks Golf Course is also found here.

Living in Paris

Paris is full of great spots to dine, activities to try, and sights to see. Main Street, which runs through the downtown section, is a collection of beautiful architecture and rich history.

The Downtown Paris ARTWALK, sponsored by the Paris Main Street Program, is a fantastic event for lovers of the arts, and who doesn't love a good downtown festival?

If you love nature, check out the Nannine Clay Wallis Arboretum, a 4-acre arboretum with trees planted in the 1850s. History lovers will enjoy the Hopewell Museum, and feel free to join the Kentucky Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution -- the society's headquarters are located at Duncan Tavern on Courthouse Square.

The Vardens Building is a sight to behold with its Victorian architecture and decor. Movie-goers will get a kick out of the nearby Bourbon Drive-In Theater, which is just north of the city's limits. Grab your buddies, and head over for double features that begin as soon as the sun sets. Make sure you sample their huge assortment of concession stand goodies, too.

The Cane Ridge Meeting House sits just six miles east of the city, as well, and it is considered to be the largest one-room log structure in the nation.

If food is more your thing than historical sites, then calm down, because they have that, too. Perico's Mexican Restaurant is a town favorite, and you won't find better Italian flavors than at Giovanni's. Paradise Caf̩ sits in the aforementioned Shinner Building, and Clay's Downtown Restaurant is ideal for a quick bite when you're downtown, naturally.
