Things are nice here. And we mean "expensive" nice. The cost of living in Carney is about 11 percent higher than the rest of the nation, and it’s proximity to Baltimore makes it an attractive place to live for people who work in the city but prefer a quaint, small-town life. It’s definitely not the best choice for people in search of an active entertainment and nightlife scene, but for families looking to settle down find an apartment or condo unit, it’s a great bet! Maryland is a state known for being laid back and friendly and residents love the quiet life of town mixed with the excitement nearby when they're in the mood for it.
Moving to Carney
If you’re considering moving to Carney, definitely make sure to visit before you make up your mind. You’ll want to get a feel for the city – its residents find it pretty sleepy and a little behind the times compared to Baltimore and other larger cities, but depending on your tastes that could be a bonus! It has many attractive qualities – quiet and peaceful neighborhoods and nice homes for not extravagant prices. The median home value is around $215,500. About 96 percent of folks live in single-family homes and 3.8 percent in condos – so single-family homes are definitely your most likely bet. When you’re looking for apartments, show up early and dress for the part! You’ll want to impress your landlord or broker just like you would on a job interview. Apartments aren’t easy to find here and if you want to score any extra amenities or one of those rare all utilities paid apartments, you’ll want to stand out from the crowd. Living in Carney
Carney is basically one big neighborhood suburb of Baltimore. The proximity to the city means you will have access to all of Baltimore’s offerings. Oriole’s games, shows and performances at the theater, the wonderful educational facilities at Johns Hopkins. Plus the city has a beautiful waterfront and some excellent shopping and ethnic cuisine. Most people commute into Baltimore for work and drive themselves to the office averaging about a 15 to 30 minute commute time.
