Edgemere is a small community on the easternmost side of Baltimore county. It is home to 8,669 according to the 2010 census. It's surrounded on all sides by the Chesapeake Bay without carrying the high oceanfront prices that other areas in Baltimore county have. This town is small, quiet, and takes you far enough outside of Baltimore city to enjoy the natural beauty that Maryland has to offer, without making a commute difficult. Once you've gotten through your work day, taking a short drive back to your home in Edgemere gives you the opportunity to relax in a scenic setting.
Finding an apartment to rent in Edgemere requires you to deal with private landlords, with the exception of the apartment complex Beacon Pointe where you might be able to find one-bedroom apartments for rent, but no all-bills-paid apartments. As this is a very small community, the amount of houses and apartments to rent are relatively limited. However, this part of eastern Baltimore county isn't in as high of demand as areas closer to the the city, so you enjoy lower rental prices compared to nearby communities. Stay diligent in your search to make sure you are able to find the best place for you.
The houses in this area are mostly older, with historic homes from the '20s going up to a great deal of '50s and '60s construction. This helps add charm and character to the 3 bedroom houses for rent in Edgemere. Some private landlords work through property management companies, but you often deal one on one with the homeowner who is renting out the property. This gives you the opportunity to negotiate perks such as all bills paid, furnished apartments and other flexible arrangements.
As Edgemere is only 20 square miles, with half of that covered in water, this area does not have smaller neighborhoods. The area is easy to get around due to its limited size, and you'll quickly learn the faces of your neighbors. You're living right on the outside of a big city, but it feels more like living in a small town by itself instead of being in a suburban area.
This is a nature lover's dream, thanks to the miles of waterfront available nearby. You don't have to seek out a house specifically for a waterfront view, as the entire residential area can see it. The average walk score for this location is in the '30s, so while you have a few convenience stores and other businesses nearby, you need to travel to Dundalk or into Baltimore city proper for grocery stores and other necessities. Grocery delivery services are available in this area, however. This area also does not have easy access to public transportation, although you can set up carpools and van pools.
This area is best suited for those who want a relaxing place to lay their head after a long day at work. You're removed from the high energy of Baltimore city, without being so far away that it's hard to commute into the city for your work and needs. It's less expensive than the surrounding areas, so you also get a better deal if you want a larger apartment for rent in Edgemere.
Multiple parks are available to hike through, including the North Point State Park. Fishing and other outdoor recreation is also available within a short drive, or in some cases walking distance away. Edgemere is a small area that deserves plenty of attention with the ways it can meet your moving needs.
