Although it's never been incorporated as a city, town, or even village, Cutlerville is one of the top 50 areas in Michigan with the highest population density, and what makes this even more astounding is that there are well over 800 total municipalities in the state!
Located south of the cities of Kentwood and Wyoming, Cutlerville is a community that's referred to as a census-designated place for record-keeping purposes. The community got its name from John Cutler, a man who took his wife and 10 children from New York and built a log cabin in what is now Cutlerville in 1853. The mansion that his son built now plays a significant role in the local psychiatric hospital.
Moving to Cutlerville
We know, we know. You've heard some bad things about certain areas of Michigan. Well luckily for you, if you're trying to find apartment homes in Cutlerville, you can forget about these fears. Cutlerville has a violent crime rate lower than Michigan's, and even when compared to America's average, Cutlerville is still lower. So you feel safe moving here now, right? Hold your horses! You need to get ready first.
When to Start Looking
Over 28 percent of all residents in Cutlerville are renters, but this doesn't mean that there aren't a number of apartment homes to go around. You could probably find a place in under a month, but if you're hoping to get an apartment in your choice of neighborhoods, it wouldn't be a bad idea to start researching at least two months ahead of time. Since this area is relatively safe compared to other cities in America, you won't have to worry much about "bad neighborhoods," but come on, wouldn't you rather spend the necessary planning time to know you'll love where you live?
When to Make the Move
Not winter. Those are the only two words you need to remember. If you choose to move during the winter and your fingers fall off while carrying a box inside, don't say we didn't warn you. The average high temperatures between December and February are right near freezing. You honestly don't want to move in these temperatures, and that's especially if you're at one of the multi-story apartment complexes.
What to Bring Along
Being one of the safest areas in Michigan, you need to be ready to show landlords that you're focused on keeping it that way. Bringing references from former landlords and proof of income will make it seem as if you have a form of maturity that your mother still wishes you'd develop. You can go play with puppies later, but until you have the place, you should act like a grownup. Heck, throw in a credit and background check if you really want to impress.
Cutlerville Neighborhoods
After looking at the neighborhoods around Cutlerville, you'll likely be a bit confused as to why the population dropped during the first decade of the new millennium. Well, it's got us stumped at least. Either way, check out some of the great aspects of Cutlerville's different neighborhoods and you'll easily find which is your favorite.
Northeast Cutlerville: This area, just north of the Paul B. Henry Freeway, is mostly residential and highly populated in some areas. You have everything from rental housing to the Kentwood Mobile Home Park. Oh, and the Fred Meijer M-6 Trail provides a great place for cyclists, joggers, and those who just feel like walking.
Pine Rest: The area around Pine Rest is absolutely beautiful, and a bulk of the homes around here have in-ground swimming pools.
Central Cutlerville: Yet another area with a variety of housing options. There are mobile homes all around SW Inca Drive, but you'll also have no issue finding an awesome home for rent. On top of that, the Big Dip Water Park is here, too. We know... it's too cold (pssst, it's inside of a Holiday Inn, so you're good!)

Grand Rapids is only about 10 minutes away. Check out one of the seemingly endless museums around there or one of the countless other attractions.
Awesome Park Activities
Sure, Ideal Park may belong to the city of Wyoming, but it's right on the boundary line of Cutlerville. That means you can claim it too, right? It's got fishing, walking trails, picnic areas, and even places to play soccer, basketball, and tennis. Enough said.
