Before Fair Plain developed as a community, it was mostly farmland and fruit orchards! No wonder people think it's such a sweet town.
Fair Plain, also called Fairplain, is a community in Berrien County, Michigan with a population of 7631. It began as an agricultural area with fruit orchards in the 19th and 10th centuries and then evolved into a residential area. Many old farm houses and barns can still be found here and some of them are still lived in! Down on Miami Drive, you'll find some of the most prestigious homes in the city. There's also the beautiful Berrien Hills Golf Club on the banks of the St. Joseph River. It's a tiny town, covering only 4.4 square miles on the map, but they do cram in a lot of small-town charm here! There is no shortage of places to eat and drink, no matter where you are in town. The Hidden Point and Louie's Sports Bar and Restaurant are two of the local favorites. You're also only a stone's throw away from Lake Michigan! Residents here love to pack up the car and head out to a cabin on the water for a night or a long weekend. It's a great way to wind down and enjoy many of the water activities or the miles of hiking, biking and jogging trails along the water.
Moving to Fair Plain
If you're thinking about finding a house rental in Fair Plain, you're in for a treat! The area is rich with premier apartments and has a fairly high vacancy rate, so it should be relatively easy to find something. The first thing you'll want to do is to make plenty of appointments with landlords to visit different rental apts. Decide on what size apartment you're looking for first. 3 bedroom apartments will be quite a bit more expensive than studio apartments, so it's good to know what you're looking for to get a feel for what your price range will be. Make sure to see places in different neighborhoods too, to get an idea of what the town is like. It's fun to explore a new town and Fair Plan is no exception. Also think about what kind of apartment you're interested in. Do you want to have a big yard? A single family home? Or do you like living in an apartment complex? Do you like to have grocery stores and convenience stores within walking distance? Figuring out these things beforehand will help narrow down your search and make finding an apartment that much easier.
Once you get here and have set up appointments with different landlords, make sure to get all the necessary documentation together before you head out to meet them. You'll want to have a copy of your ID, your credit report, bank statements, pay stubs, letter of employment, references and rental application. If you're planning to bring a cat or dog (or bird, lizard, etc!), make sure you have all the requisite paperwork for them as well. Probably the most important thing you can bring is your checkbook, however. Nothing tells a landlord you're interested like slapping down a big fat check on an apartment. Once you have all these details in order, you'll be ready to get started renting!
