Brentwood, Missouri, is a suburb of St. Louis in St. Louis County. The town, once called Maddenville, was a frequent stop along the Manchester Trail and had its own street car that connected to St. Louis.
Brentwood, Missouri is a part of the greater St. Louis area. It's the product of three original land purchases starting way back in 1804. In its time, Brentwood has seen prairie schooners, gamblers and streetcars, and has always had a reputation of being prosperous. Brentwood maintains this positive image by providing its residents with top-notch schools, modern amenities and plenty of green space featuring many recreation options. If you're interested in living in an all-American town that has everything, look no further. This city has a place just for you.
Moving to Brentwood
You've decided to pick up camp and move to Brentwood, where you'll enjoy life right on St. Louis's front porch, so to speak. You'll need to find a rental house, or you might decide to rent an apartment instead. Although the majority of properties in Brentwood are owner-occupied, you'll find a reasonable number of house rentals available as well. There are plenty of Brentwood city apartments for you to browse. If you like searching online, you can go right to the Brentwood city website and search for properties on their real estate locator, or you can call a live Realtor to help you search for your new dream home. Hold on just a minute, though. Brentwood's proximity to St. Louis makes it highly sought-after, so if you're digging the idea of living here, plan your move well in advance. Okay, carry on. Once you find your place, sign your paperwork and turn in your security deposit, pet deposit and lease agreement, you can begin the process of packing your boxes, bags, pets and belongings and hauling them to your new residence.
Neighborhoods in Brentwood
When you're scouting out your new neighborhood in Brentwood, you have a grand total of two possibilities. Don't worry, your choice can't possibly be a poor one in this 'burb.
Brentwood: Aside from the fact that this neighborhood isn't really in the center of the city (it's on the west side), it's ideal for finding a studio for rent. Yes, the town is an urban location, but you'll be able to take your pick of the properties here. This is a good thing if you want to be close to the Brentwood Square. You can also find Brentwood High School within the City Center's boundaries.
Hanley Industrial Court/Hanley Road: This spot is home to the Promenade at Brentwood, and is host to a metrolink station. If you're looking for public transportation, this St. Louis light-rail system will get you downtown (or anywhere) in a hurry. You'll find Hanley and Rosalie Parks here, as well. Though slightly less populated than the City Center, you'll pay a little more for your house rental here. Though Brentwood is relatively friendly to foot-traffic and you can hoof it around town to get some errands done, don't plan on walking full-time. Your car's going to come in handy around here.
Living in Brentwood
Where do the locals go for a good time? If you're not willing to hop on the metrolink and scoot downtown for the afternoon, there are plenty of entertainment options within Brentwood's city limits. There are eight city-maintained parks that you can visit during your free time, and for lunch you can enjoy one of Brentwood's many culinary choices. Some parks include Brenwood Park (duh), Hanley Park, Oak Tree Park and Broughton Park. For some grub, you can get started with Mai Lee, Houlihan's or Twinoak Wood Fire Fare.
Brentwood has its very own ice arena, so if you love to skate, you can head indoors and propel yourself around for a while. The recreation complex in Brentwood hosts activities year-round, but is particularly busy in the summertime, hosting fitness, swimming and tennis classes. Be sure to enjoy Brentwood's annual "Maddenfest" for free fun, good food and a way to connect with your Brentwood neighbors.
