Richmond has come a long way in terms of civility, though, and now lives a quiet and peaceful life 40 miles removed from the bursting metropolis of Kansas City. With a population of just under 6,000, Richmond offers a little small town life balanced with a nice helping of city convenience.

Moving to Richmond
Richmond's weather is generally cool, rarely straying above 90 degrees in the hottest month of July, and tipping down to about 20 degrees on average during the coldest month of January. Rainfall is less than 37 inches per year, and snowfall usually stays below 18 inches per year. Sunny days far outweigh the rainy and snowy ones, as the area boasts 93 days per year of clouds and precipitation, compared to 215 days of clear skies.
Definitely plan your move to Richmond in the warmer months, after April and by the end of September. Any other month of the year is likely to bring snow, making your move treacherous. Also, be prepared for the winds. What people in Montana call a stiff breeze the rest of the country calls hurricanes.
