Lockwood is a census-designated place in Yellowstone County, Montana, which some people believe to be one of the most beautiful regions in our fair country. The population is 6,797 and it is growing at incredible rates! It's a suburbs of Billings, where many of Lockwood's residents commute for work and is a mostly residential town that is spread out of about 13 square miles. Due to the significant increase in size in the last ten years, they have made many changes surrounding improvement of roads, community gardens, festivals, lighting, sidewalks and other things that continue to improve the quality of life in Lockwood. East Lockwood: This is the part of town that surrounds I-90 and I-94, which can easily zip you into Billings, for folks who need to work there. Java and Gems is a great restaurants in the area and there are a lot of chain and fast food restaurants around the highway on-ramp. You'll find a lot of small subdivisions with a few rental properties over here.
Lockwood Road: This is a quiet, mainly residential area with a few subdivisions in different areas. You won't find any places to shop or eat here, but it's just a quick jaunt across the Yellowstone River to get to places like Guadalajara Mexican and lots of fast food stops.
South Lockwood: This is the area where most residents have settled. It provides easy access to the highway and is tucked into a pretty, rural setting. There are a number of small streets and quaint settings along Old U.S. 87.
Living in Lockwood
Lockwood has changed by leaps and bounds in the past decade and continues to grow and change today. It has a rich heritage and is interested in preserving its culture while still moving forward with modern changes. Living here means being surrounded by the peaks of the Rocky Mountains and the valleys and streams below. It's pretty rural and peaceful, but nearby Billings is there to satisfy all your entertainment and shopping needs.
