The town is very close to major cities but has managed to maintain a family atmosphere at the heart of the community. Forest City residents are community minded, and the Forest City neighborhoods are collaborative. Town Center: This area is close to the majority of local stores and eateries, such as Don Ramon Mexican Restaurant and Scott's on Broadway. There is a good mixture of townhouses and apartment rentals, along with a number of historic buildings.
With a rich community life, there's always something going on in Forest City. Hot Nights, Cool Rides is an annual classic car show, which is dubbed the best car show in the southeast. If you're not that into cars, don't fret! There's also live music, DJs and lots of great eats. Christmas is a big deal in the town and is a time when residents get together to spread some holiday cheer. Annual Christmas events include Christmas parades, ice skating, a Santa house and even the opportunity for you and your pet to meet old Saint Nick. If you enjoy spending time outdoors, head one of the town's several city parks, such as Crowe Park or Summey Park. You could also take a dip at the Clay Street Pool or sink a few putts at the Municipal Golf Course.
