During the 1940s and 1950s, Middlesex Sampling Plant processed uranium ore, which was used to build atomic weapons. There's no need to worry about the threat of a meltdown, however: the plant is no longer active.
Middlesex is a borough of 13,635 people, or at least that's how many lived there at the time of the 2010 census. It's located on the north bank of the Raritan River, right where the urban density surrounding the NYC area starts to peter out into slightly more rural surroundings. There is plenty to recommend Middlesex as an excellent place to live on the east coast, not least the great transportation options and the beautiful parks that are scattered throughout the borough. If you are looking for a place to lay your head in this part of the country, then Middlesex could be a fantastic fit! View Middlesex City Guide
