Ramtown is a census-designated area in the greater Howell Township area of Southeastern New Jersey. Ramtown is a dense neighborhood that earns the Garden State moniker with its abundance of greenery. It's just 30 or so miles outside of New York City and connects to the 440 highway into New York via the Garden State Parkway. Around 6,200 people call Ramtown home, though the town gets a bit more traffic from the nearby Monmouth Executive Airport, which is one of the highest-rated plane-changing ports in the nation.
Make sure you have your license, vehicle registration and other personal identification materials (Social Security card, security clearance level, etc) ready for when you search for an apartment or house to rent when you're planning a move to Ramtown. Also make sure to stay up-to-date on traffic trends around New York and learn about any tax liabilities you may have if you commute into the city for work. As with all of the northeast, winters in Ramtown will be cold and snowy, while summers will be hot and humid. Your most comfortable time to move will be in the mild autumn, especially if you want to catch the beautiful changing of the leaves.
Ramtown's population is mostly centered in a heavily developed selection of suburbs along the parkway. The majority are single-family houses and duplexes for rent in an area between Ramtown-Greenville Road and the parkway. Eastside: If you're looking for a studio apartment for rent or a condominium in Ramtown, look on the east side along the parkway. The area provides a denser living environment with easier access to arterial roads to the city, but is still relatively quiet thanks to a generous tree line between the residences and the parkway.
Westside: Other, smaller suburban escapes with the odd house for rent have popped up near the western edge of Ramtown where some rural land is still maintained. This is especially the case for a northwestern portion of the neighborhood that's kitty-cornered from the rest of the community.
Ramtown is almost entirely residential, so those looking for a bite to eat or a night out tend to drive east to the waterfront communities that are far more urban in design. Point Pleasant Beach and the connected boardwalk are popular destinations for the plethora of seafood restaurants around like Mariner's Cove and Shore Fresh. Don't worry about ordering out, though: Ramtown has its own local pizzeria in J & G Pizza on the south side. Adventurous folks can also look into skydiving opportunities at Monmouth Executive Airport or dig into some hiking at the vast Open Space Plan southeast of town. Of course, there's also the infinite entertainment draw of New York City itself. Driving in for a Broadway show, Giants game or anything else (it's New York, it has everything) is definitely doable.
Ramtown is a great community for those who want the East Coast experience without necessarily having to live in East Coast density. It's close enough to major urban areas to fit the bill, but quiet enough to be a nice retreat from the bustle.
