East Farmingdale Neighborhoods
While there are no neighborhoods in East Farmingdale itself, there is some difference between the areas of town.
East Farmingdale proper: This neighborhood offers the benefits of small town living such as being close to schools and shopping and being surrounded by neighbors. There are few apartments available, so apartments here tend to be pricey.
South Farmingdale: This area to the west of East Farmingdale is in Nassau County, where property values are slightly cheaper. It has a post office and public library as well as a Long Island Railroad train station. If you need to commute into the city regularly, you'll want to live here so you can take advantage of public transportation. In addition, there are new apartments being built here, making it an ideal location for renters who want lower prices while retaining all the conveniences of being near downtown shops and schools.
North of Southern State Parkway: The area just north of the Southern State Parkway is near MacArthur Airport, so expect a lot of traffic and noise from passing airplanes. However, other than these considerations, this neighborhood is similar to other parts of East Farmingdale. There are less families with children in this area because it is somewhat further from schools. However, the proximity of the Southern State Parkway is convenient for those who commute to work by car each day; you can be in the city in about 90 minutes.

The area sports only one college--Farmingdale State College--and one elementary, middle and high school.
