Welcome to Jamestown, New York, the former “Furniture Capital of the World.” Cool, right? Actually, it’s totally cool because it has resulted in a beautiful, historic city! Now let’s take a look at some apartments for rent and find you the home of your dreams.
Jamestown is located along Chautauqua Lake in far western New York, about 40 miles from the Pennsylvania border. While Jamestown remains a relatively small town, there have been some big names to come out of the surrounding area, including Lucille Ball, Natalie Merchant and Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys (“How dreamy,” said the teenaged girl in 1999).
Okay, so maybe you’re not into esoteric furniture manufacturing history, red headed television stars, or former pop sensations. There’s still plenty for you to do in town! As the largest city in Chautauqua County, Jamestown has the best of shopping, dining and entertainment for miles. Additionally, you’ll be close to Chautauqua Lake recreational activities and the Allegheny National Forest.
Most residents consider the south side of Jamestown from Fairmount Avenue down to be the most desirable in town. This area also tends to be the most expensive. South Jamestown has a very suburban feel and most of the properties here are owned. However, you’ll be able to find the occasional great rental home in this area, generally ranging in price from $800-$1000.
Moving north towards the city center, you’ll find the Celoron neighborhood, situated right on the banks of the Chautauqua. In Celoron you won’t have any trouble finding apartment rentals in medium-sized complexes, some with awesome amenities including gyms, pools and clubhouses. This area also has affordable rents, with two bedrooms ranging from $550-$750.
Pet-friendly Jamestown rentals shouldn’t be too difficult to come by. Some newer buildings may have limitations on the size or number of pets, but overall, the city remains widely welcoming to four legged friends.
So welcome to Jamestown, a great western New York city!
