Moving to North Babylon
Cheap rental properties in North Babylon are about as common as unicorns, but with a little tenacity and diligence, you can find an apartment to rent that meets all your needs. You'll find that there are quite a few single-family homes and townhouses on the market but not too many apartments for rent that are vacant. The best places to look are in the urban areas near the train stop instead of the areas further out, which tend to have more subdivisions with mansions and big lawns. Unless that's what you're looking for, because then you're in luck!
What You'll Need
Basically, you're going to need a little extra time to devote to your hunt because it can take a few weeks to settle on the right place. If you're really pressed for time, it would probably be in your best interests to use a broker or real estate agent who can help you find the right place more quickly. But doing it yourself will save you quite a bit of money. Once you've honed in on a few places, make appointments to see the landlords or management company, and be sure to show up on time. Making a good impression is part of the trick to landing the right apartment. You should also bring along all the paperwork you'll need so your landlord doesn't have to jump through hoops to get it from you. And whatever you do, don't forget your checkbook. If you're not ready to put down a deposit on a great apartment right away, there's a good chance someone else will do it first.
Neighborhoods
North Babylon is a tiny plot of land, but the different neighborhoods do maintain their own distinct feel! Here are a few of the main areas that you could consider checking out.
Bay Shore Road / Carlls Path: Remember how we mentioned big mansions and lush, expansive lawns earlier? This is where you'll find those. It's one of the priciest areas in the city and is made up of mostly single-family homes, but also has some luxury apartments and high rises. It's worth checking out because it has a ton of apartment spaces, but be prepared to pay the piper.
Town Center: This area stretches from Southern State Parkway in the north to just below Sunrise Highway in the south and edges up against the beautiful Southards Pond Park and Phelps Lane Memorial Park. You'll find a lot of small apartment complexes here mixed in with single-family homes. It's a more urban part of town and you'll find a lot of fast food and chain restaurants dotted along the Babylon Northport Expressway, which runs north/south through the neighborhood.
Sylvan Road / Deer Park Avenue: Look here for better deals on apartment complexes and high-rise apartments. This area also scores high on the convenience factor with lots of small markets and shops around.
