A commuter community for Rochester, and a part of the greater Rochester area, North Gates is located about an hour east of Buffalo but just 10 minutes from the center of Rochester. Did someone say road trip day?
Moving to Town
When you've made the decision to look for apartment homes, you'll discover that North Gates is a distinct section of Gates, NY. The community has a number of luxury apartments, pet friendly apartments, and furnished apartments particularly in the area around Buffalo Road. Closer to the Genesee Riverway Trail, you'll find townhouses and single family homes. North Gates and in fact the entire community of Gates has few vacancies at any given time, so allow at least a month to find your new home. Check out the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, particularly the online classified listings, and of course, drive around the area to become familiar with it and the apartment complexes that are available. As is always the case anywhere in the U.S., landlords will want to check your credit report, and will ask to see your identification, and most likely bank statements or tax returns to confirm your income.

North Gates is a great place to live for a number of reasons. First off, it never hurts to be near an exciting major city - North Gates is right on the edge of Rochester. Who could complain about gorgeous Great Lake walks, trips to the Genesee Riverway, or a stroll through one of the community's other outdoor areas?
Buffalo Road: This centrally located neighborhood is a great place to enjoy the nearby Brook-Lea Country Club, Westgate Park, and there's easy access to the Greater Rochester Airport. There are a wide array of condos, apartment complexes, and a few single-family homes here as well.
Westfield / Ford Street: Here residents enjoy scenic views of the nearby Genesee Valley Park and Genesee Riverway Trail. This is a great neighborhood for walking, hiking, and picnicking in spring and summer. Enjoy the fall foliage in the winter.
Life in North Gates, New York
Lake lovers rejoice, North Gates is a great place for those who enjoy access to a wide variety of activities and amenities that are fresh water based. Located just miles from the beautiful southern shores of Lake Ontario, you can also explore lush Memorial Park right off Spencerport Road and relax near one of two small ponds or go for a scenic bike ride. Gates Town Park is another local outdoor favorite. For those who enjoy a nice round of golf, tennis, swimming, or any other sports for that matter, the Brook-Lea Country Club is close at hand. Many community activities are also held here throughout the year. And speaking of community - there are sports teams, classes, and senior activities offered year 'round.
Nearby, just a few minutes away, you'll find Westmar Plaza and the West Gates Shopping Center with many fine retail shops and restaurants. Wegmans Food Markets, which is headquartered in Gates, has a strong presence in town for shoppers, too.
Also close by is Greece Canal Park, with an off leash dog park among its 577 acres. Go cross country skiing in the winter, play tennis, soccer, or baseball in the summer.
