One among many preeminent people to have visited Saranac on a regular basis was Albert Einstein, who frequently rented a summer home here and would often be seen out sailing with his wife on the sublime Lake Flower.

The village's economy is driven mainly by the tourist trade, and given its idyllic location, that should come as no surprise. There's plenty to do here throughout the entire year, where visitors and locals take part in boating activities, hiking, cross-country as well as downhill skiing, fishing, and so much more besides. It's little wonder that Saranac Lakes has played host to so many distinguished characters over the decades.
