Here's a great way to get to know Euclid, Ohio. The city has one hospital, one library, one police station, one motel, and 22, (yes, 22) churches. The community just outside of Cleveland, Ohio, has more than 48,900 people that call it home. Located in Cuyahoga County, and part of the Greater Cleveland Metro Area, the city was named after a Greek mathematician. Settled in 1796, the area wasn't actually a city until the 1930s. This city is about 11.5 square miles and sits right on Lake Erie. Euclid Beach, one of the largest in the area, is a hot spot come July 4th when the city of Cleveland hosts its annual fireworks display. Don't worry, though. If you rent an apartment in Euclid, you will get front row seats and easy access to the beach throughout the year. The city is home to some fantastic attractions, too, including the National Cleveland Style Polka Hall of Fame, Euclid High School, Euclid Pony Baseball League and the Softball Hall of Fame.
As you check out the apartment locator for Euclid, consider the area's overall housing makeup. About 38% of the households here are renters. This high number means that there are plenty of opportunities for you to find the type of home you are after. Aside from the shoreline communities, most of the area offers a wide range of housing options, including apartments, duplexes and condos for rent. Yet, single family homes are also prominent. At any given time, about 12% of the households here are unoccupied.
This high number of open houses is due in part to a large number of foreclosures in the area. However, many rental units remain empty as well. Considering this, individuals may want to determine if they are a good credit risk for the area. Most landlords require a month's rent upfront and offer one year leases. You will need to demonstrate proof of income, but a decent credit score is likely all that is needed. Euclid homes for rent range widely in terms of what they offer. You may even be able to score that elusive all utilities paid apartment here.
As a sizable and diverse town, Euclid does have a number of unique neighborhoods. If you are planning to locate a home for rent here, or you are after that high-rise apartment for rent with utilities paid, you may find it if you look in the right area. Consider a few of the best residential neighborhoods.
Edgecliff: Yes, its name makes sense. It is a neighborhood located right on the Lake Erie Shore. Yes, you will have the ability to boat off here, enjoy the beautiful beach, and even fish, just not really off the shore since there are rules about that. The homes here are high end, with larger to moderately-sized yards. The area is also the location of Euclid Hospital, the largest hospital in this city. It is just off State Route 283. $$$$$
Beverly Hills: This area really isn't all that Beverly Hills-like if you are thinking about California. The Euclid version is an area with moderately-high incomes, a large subdivision area without any commercialized areas, and the area of Chardon Hills Elementary. Mostly single-family homes, you will find some duplexes for rent here. This neighborhood is just off Euclid Avenue and is near I-90, which takes you into the heart of Cleveland. $$
Lake Shore Blvd:This neighborhood is also near the shore, just a bit further down the coastline. It is nearly all single family homes and park area, so if you find a home for rent here, you will pay highly for it. Yet, with the lake outside your window, it may be worthwhile. There is no school, commercial area, or even a library in this area. You'll find churches, though, that's beyond a doubt. $$$
Lake Shore Blvd East:Just a bit further down is another neighborhood, yes, with the same name. That's because both reside right on the shore and are on Lake Shore Blvd. Clever, isn't it? Home to Euclid Park, the hot spot in Cleveland for those looking for beach time fun, it's also home to Kenneth J Sims Park. The Lake Shore Shopping Center is located just to the south of this neighborhood as well. The homes for rent here, again, are going to be pricey because of the location. Nearly all are single family homes, mostly with large yards. $$
Chardon Road:This area of Euclid offers a different take on nature. No, it is not on the lake, but the Euclid Creek Reservation runs through it. The area has just a few homes and all are single family homes on larger lots. But, what's better than the deer in the backyard? This area is just off Euclid Avenue and Route 84. $$$
Beachview View:Just to the other side of the Euclid Creek Reservation is this neighborhood and it is much the same. However, there are more homes for rent here and there are more large lots. It is not common to find homes for rent in this region, but you are along Euclid Avenue where duplexes for rent are popular. $$
Lloyd: In this region, which is just a few miles to the south of the Lake Shore area you will find a more modest area. Apartments for rent, duplexes and homes for rent are popular. This area is home to Shoreview Elementary School and the Ambassadors for Christ Church is nearby. It is a family-friendly region just a few miles off the shore. $$$
Noble:The main corridor into the city is in the Noble neighborhood. I-90 runs through the center of this area. Willow Park and the Euclid Square Mall Shopping Center are located here, too. If you want to be in a moderately-priced area with homes for rent and plenty of apartments for rent, Noble is likely the place to be. $$$
What's it like to live here? Unlike the dense urban area of Cleveland, Euclid attracts people who want a bit more room to call their own. Yet, it is affordable. The median household income is low enough that it shouldn't take long for you to transition from an apartment to a home. And with a strongly family-oriented culture, putting down roots in Euclid is an easy thing to do. Most of the residents are a tad bit past the baby-making phase of their life, however. The good schools and abundance of churches demonstrates that the town is definitely willing and eager for many little rugrats to descend upon the town.
