Northridge is a census-designated place in Clark County, Ohio. It sits right outside of Springfield and dates all the way back to 1818! With a population of 7572, it's a pretty tiny residential town but Springfield is so close that it's basically considered a suburb of the bigger city. There's also the giant Clarence J. Brown Reservoir right to the east of Northridge, which makes a wonderful weekend or vacation destination for anyone who likes to swim, fish, boat or just go for a walk or hike! It's just what you think of when you picture TV Shows like Leave It To Beaver - plenty of small, winding streets lined with trees and filled with nice people
If you're looking for an apartment rental in Northridge, late summer and early fall are the best times to move. Rental properties are fairly scarce, but there are some parts of town with condo rentals and city apartments. You just might have to spend a little longer on your hunt than you would in other towns with more rental properties available. It's a good idea to start searching at least one month, maybe two, before your move. That way you'll have a better chance to scoring an apartment and not being pressed for time. Get started on your hunt by contacting landlords and setting up appointments. Try to look for places all around the city - that way you'll start to get a feel for what it would be like to live in the different neighborhoods as well as what the prices are like. The good news is that homes here are significantly cheaper than renting or owning in other parts of Ohio and the U.S., so your bank account will thank you later!
What you'll need: When you're moving here you should ask around to find out more information about local offerings depending on your needs. Do you need to be close to public transportation? Do you like being near a park or grassy area? Do you like living in a single-family home or a huge apartment complex? Answering all of these questions beforehand will help narrow down your search so you can find the apartment you want! It's also a good idea to bring a folder with all the right paperwork that you need. You'll want to bring a copy of your ID, your credit report, bank statements, pay stubs, letter of employment, references and any other documents you think might make it easier to rent an apartment. Bringing your checkbook, of course, is also a great idea. They love new residents in this area so you'll definitely get a warm welcome when you arrive!
The town is located just outside of Springfield and residents can get in their car and get to almost any part of Springfield in under an hour. The city is divided up into a few different areas:
Kitzer Woods West: This part of town is really secluded. You'll be right off of Willow Road, but otherwise it's just one small subdivision with a few homes. It's private location means the homes are a little pricier.
Willow Lakes: Tucked up into the northeast corner of Northridge is Willow Lakes, a small neighborhoods with single-family homes and small apartment complexes. There aren't too many homes available in this neighborhood, but if you look hard you may be able to find some.
Moorefield Road: This is basically the town center of Northridge, if it has one. The Moorefield Twp Clerk's office is right here along with a bowling alley and the Short Stop Pizza Place. It's a good place to look for apartment rentals, too.
South Northridge: This is by far the best place to find housing in the town. There are many winding streets where you can search for vacant apartments, both large and small. It's completely residential, so you won't find many shops or restaurants here, but you can head due north to Derr Road for all the shopping and dining options you need.
Life here is pretty quiet, as the residents will attest. And they seem to love it! There's the Northridge Swim Club for when you want to get a little exercise in and Northridge Lanes is great for bowling and entertainment. But aside from that, most people leave the town and head into Springfield for action and nightlife. The Short Stop Pizza Place is the only real restaurant in town but there are others just south of the town on Derr Road. The Clarence J Brown Reservoir is a beautiful place to relax or take in some watersports and you can stop at Mic's Italian Restaurant on Route 4 afterwards! Basically, you can enjoy the quiet, small town life along with your friendly neighbors and commute into Springfield anytime you need to change up the pace!
