Glenpool has grown up over the years to become a successful township after its beginnings in the oil industry when the American Indian, Ida E. Glenn, created the first oil gusher. This is where Glenpool first received its name of Glenn, later being changed to Glenpool to illustrate pools of oil. Glenpool is proud of its community and business growth and has built a new conference building to house chamber of commerce meetings and hold conferences.

S 26th W Ave: Just southwest of Broadway Ave neighborhood, S 26th W Ave area is also close to downtown Glenpool. This area is unique in that all the homes are nearer to Oklahoma City. They have not finished construction in the area but it promises to be a more developed area very soon.
S Nyssa St: Northeast of S. Broadway Neighborhood is Nyssa St. Neighborhood. This area is closer to Tulsa and has many streets full of vacant houses awaiting Newcomers. This street breaks up and reappears but the homes are all within the Elwood/161 area.
One thing to know about the town is that, like many small towns, it has its own newspaper with local flavor, the Glenwood Post. It describes the weather, the comings and goings of Glenpool, which is very low on crime. One of their biggest stories is high school football, so make sure to grab a copy.
The biggest event by the town is the Annual Celebration of Black Gold Days, which features a carnival and a parade, where they throw candy to the children and have floats that explain the history of the town and choosing a Miss Black Gold.
