Economy Borough, with a population of 8,970 according to the 2010 census and a total area of 17.8 square miles, is considered a suburban neighborhood in and of itself based on the population density. Despite this mathematical fact, Economy adheres to its rural roots and manages to promote a peaceful atmosphere largely influenced by the surrounding nature. The borough is a part of the Ambridge Area School District, and three private schools are accessible to residents. Work commutes vary with most residents choosing private transportation, and Economy promises routes with less congestion.
Living in Economy
The location of Economy Borough gives residents many activity options whether for relaxation or for amusement. Spend an afternoon at Old Economy Park or any of the three municipal parks within the area that are outfitted with a variety of sports fields, courts, and pavilions. Economy Borough Center also offers a selection of different clubs for interested individuals to join.
Shop at local family owned businesses and boutiques. If serious retail therapy is in order without the pressure of economical spending on you, a short drive will have you at the Cranberry shopping center, Ross Park Mall, or Beaver Valley Mall.
Visit Old Economy Village for a time of discovery of local history, gardens, original artifacts, wine cellar, and preserved building structures. If food is your thing, head towards the Ohio River to find the normal selection of fast food joints mixed with locally-owned restaurants and cafes. Cranberry and Warrendale both boast some unique food options such as Restaurant ECHO and Generoasta. If you desire a more lively scene, jump in the car for a quick thirty minute ride to the city of Pittsburgh where you can find more clubs, cuisine, and sports events.
