Don't think you've found a second city of love if you move to Laurel Bay. Nearby Parris Island isn't named for the famous Parisian city -- it's named after Colonel Alexander Parris, who bought the real estate in the 17th century. And, "Parris" is spelled wrong anyway.
Part of the metro statistical area of Hilton Head Island and Bluffton and Beaufort in South Carolina, Laurel Bay is considered to be a census designated place or CDP
Don't think you've found a second city of love if you move to Laurel Bay. Nearby Parris Island isn't named for the famous Parisian city -- it's named after Colonel Alexander Parris, who bought the real estate in the 17th century. And, "Parris" is spelled wrong anyway.
Part of the metro statistical area of Hilton Head Island and Bluffton and Beaufort in South Carolina, Laurel Bay is considered to be a census designated place or CDP. Military enlistees and their families reside in this part of the state, making it convenient for them to commute to their assigned posts at the Marine Corp Air Station (MCAS) in nearby Beaufort, the Marine Corp Recruit Depot (MCRD) on the aforementioned Parris Island, and the USNH or U.S. Navy Hospital in Beaufort. Population of the area is around 5,900,according to the last census conducted in 2010. In total, Laurel Bay is made up of 5.4 square miles, of which 4.5 square miles is comprised of land. A little over 16 percent of the area is made up of water, so it's got both land and sea... sort of.
Moving to Laurel Bay
Everyone who needs housing has their pick of serviced apartments (no pun intended) and rental homes in Laurel Bay. Whether seeking two-bedroom apartments, a one-bedroom apartment for rent, or rental homes with large screened-in porches and large yards, apartment seekers are bound to find an apartment complex or single-family accommodation to meet their criteria. Laurel Bay is a neighborhood in itself; making the area easy to search. Landlords are expecting new tenants because of the high turnover of military families in the area, so as long as you have all of the required paperwork (usually proof of income, rental history, credit score, money for a deposit, and first and last months' rent), signing a new lease should be easy as pie. Most homes are outfitted with the latest appliances and feature traditional and neutral decors. Neatly trimmed lawns showcase the buildings, which, again, are conveniently located to military and hospital posts as well as on-post shopping and dining.
