Located in portions of Tarrant, Wise, and Parker Counties, Briar, Texas is a census designated place that has a population of 5,665 residents. Briar takes up 21.9 square miles of gorgeous north-central Texas farmland alongside Eagle Mountain Lake. Situated on Farm Road 730, only 22 miles northwest of Weatherford, the community began to develop in the late 1870's and 80's as a school and church community for area farmers and their families. Beginning in the early 1970's, Briar finally began to see some growth, largely in part because nearby Fort Worth began to blossom and expand. By the early 90's, the population numbers were rapidly climbing towards 4000 residents, and the town continues it's steady growth today.
