Rivers, small lakes and streams border this community, so you can take advantage of the warm Texas sun and dive on in at these pleasant water spots. Or drive on over to the Gulf of Mexico for swimming, surfing and fishing fun.

The community has its share of retail shops and cafes. Think delicious enchiladas or tacos and you'll be sure to find one to eat in close proximity. Aside from cafes, there's also Toscafino Restaurant, El Pato Fresh Mexican Food, Mi Pueblito Restaurant Bar & Grill and a Buffalo Wild Wings.

Arts and culture are also plentiful here. The greater Brownsville area has several major festivals each year, including the renowned film festival, CineSol, The Brownsville Latin Jazz Festival and the Charro Festival. Art galleries and museums also abound, with national and international exhibitions as well as local artists as the focus of attention.
