The Celina High School football team has been so successful over the years that it was featured in a documentary called The Power, Passion & Glory. In addition, this city was shown in the music video for a Kenny Chesney song about high school football.
Celina is a pretty small town in Texas that has been undergoing a lot of growth recently. With a location about 45 minutes north of Dallas and a population of 6,028, this place is worth a visit to see why it has become so popular in the last few years. Is it the exciting football action, the prime location, or the affordable rental housing? You'll have to find out for yourself!
Moving to Celina
The price for home rentals in Celina is about the same as the national average, which means it is a little more than the average for Texas. But if you are considering buying a place here, you should know that the median purchase price is a little cheaper than the national average, making this city an affordable one for aspiring homeowners. Hey, maybe that's why the vacancy rate is close to zero!
Whether you are looking for a 1 bedroom apartment for rent or need to find a more spacious rental property, you can make the process easier by bringing the proper items. These include your checkbook or debit card for a deposit, a summary of your rental history, and proof of income. Also, be prepared for your new landlord to run a background check and credit check on you.
Celina Neighborhoods
Celina features about 14 square miles, most of which is land. There's a tiny bit of water included in this estimate, but unless you plan to live in a local pond, you only need to know about the land that makes up this city. You'll find that instead of having distinct neighborhoods, Celina just makes sure each area of the city has a few amenities and lots of homes.
Southern: When you live in the southern part of the city, you live at the northern edge of nearby Prosper, which means you're just north of Subway, Pizza Hut, Frontier Park, and Gentle Creek Golf Club. Prefer to stay inside the city limits? Head to Dickey's Barbecue Pit at Carter Ranch.
Northern: This area has a lot of local businesses, making it easy to spend your money within Celina within minutes of your home. Examples of tasty eateries here include Papa Gallo's Mexican Grill, Jimbo's Pizza of Celina, and Hatcher's BBQ.
Eastern: The eastern part of Celina is right by State Highway 289, letting you go north and south through Texas with ease. When you get a home here, you'll also be very close to McDonald's, Sonic, and Church's Chicken. Hungry yet?
Western: This area's main landmark happens to be Old Celina Park, which is giant and has a fishing pond, soccer fields, baseball complex, and more. There's also lots of farmland here, which means you can expect lots of spacious fields around your home. This is perfect if you're claustrophobic or just like quaint, rural settings!
Living in Celina
There are lots of corn and wheat fields in this city, along with several parks. There's also Eden Hill Winery, Cherry's Antiquibles, Celina Flowers & Gifts, and Texas Seasons Nursery. And don't forget the football games at Celina High School! So basically, it's just as you would picture a small Texas town, with plenty of charm and a dearth of major attractions. But that's okay, because Dallas is just a 45-minute drive away, which means Dallas World Aquarium, Six Flags Over Texas, and LEGOLAND Discovery Center are all within reach. And then there's Fort Worth an hour southwest, Plano about 40 minutes south, and Wichita Falls two hours west.
Of course, Celina does have some local attractions to keep residents happy, but they mainly include restaurants and stores. Some examples are The Southern Kitchen, Burger Fixins, Brookshire's Pharmacy, Celina Drug, and Sherwin-Williams Paint Store. But these businesses mainly showed up after Celina started growing at a fast pace. After all, there were only around 1,900 residents as of 2000, and now there are more than 6,000 people here. That means that you can expect more businesses to pop up as the population grows. And maybe once you visit to look for a home in Celina, you'll see the appeal and decide to become the newest resident!
