The center of ranching operations in the 17th century, the city got its boost when the railway depot of the Brownie (that's St. Louis, Brownville and Mexico to you folks) made its appearance in this city. This rural area is a community mostly made up of farms and mobile houses. Your car's going to be your constant companion here as it's not a walkable area. This is home to Santa Maria Middle School and Las Palomas Wildlife Management.
