This sweet little city has no 19th-century history to report because it was built as part of the war effort when WWII had the world in its grip. Wake Village was built during the mid 1940s to house the people who worked at the Red River Army Depot and the Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant. What grew from necessity has blossomed into a peaceful and scenic city on the Texas-Arkansas border.
Named in honor of the bitter battles on Wake Island in the Pacific during WWII, Wake Village is now a bustling home to over 5,458 happy residents
