Located on State Route 74, Alpine covers an area of 7.4 square miles and lies north of Highland. The city is a magnet for mountain biking enthusiasts; they flock to its famous trails, which twist and turn around the mountains. This metropolis, whose population stands at around 9,555 (2010 U.S. Census data), forms part of the Provo-Orem, Utah Metropolitan Statistical Area. It grew rapidly from the 1970s through to the early 1990s to become the thriving city it is today. Residents enjoy moderate climatic conditions; average winter and summer temperatures hover around 21 degrees F and 83 degrees F, respectively. Ten to 20 inches of snow fall in the area annually. Better bring a shovel!

The metropolis provides a wide variety of recreational amenities; these include Jordanelle State Park, Park City Museum, and Alpine Fort, among others. The Alpine Art Center is a popular venue for weddings, art shows, dances, award banquets and craft shows. Horse Tail Falls is an awesome hiking destination that attracts hundreds of visitors. The paths in the area are clearly marked and suitable for horseback rides and group hikes. Navigating around the Horse Tail Falls is quite challenging considering its steep elevation (1,600 feet), but it could be a great challenge to set yourself if you are planning to get fit.
