Magna was, like much of Utah, settled by pioneers in the mid 1850s. After establishing the area first as a town called Pleasant Green, Magna became a draw in the 1970s because of affordable real estate prices and nice suburbanization. For a long time Magna was an unincorporated town in Salt Lake County, but it recently became a township, and it boasts its own commercial and economic area including restaurants, grocery stores, shopping and more. Magna is basically a suburb of Salt Lake City, but for cheaper prices than in the city you get the perks of being close to a huge bustling metropolitan area with the ability to go home at night and rest.
The majority of real estate in Magna is owned not rented. But if you have your heart set on an apartment, best of luck searching through the 5 percent vacancy rate to find something to rent. On the upside, if you do find somewhere to live, itll be cheap! Renting a studio here costs less than the average throughout the nation, as does renting a one bedroom. For the area and community youre getting, its hard to beat that deal. Utah does have some pretty harsh winters, so if youre coming to search for an apartment, come in one of the summer months. Itll make your search more tolerable and you'll probably enjoy warm weather better than the super cold frosty, snow.
Pleasant Green Park:Pleasant Green Park is in the southwestern part of the city its a pretty place where people come to hang out and attend festivals and events.
Magna Copper Park:Also called the West End, this is a residential area surrounding a beautiful park with lots of sports facilities.
Magna is home to the Kennecott Smokestack, the tallest free-standing structure west of the Mississippi River. Its also quite a lovely suburb of Salt Lake City, offering a small town community with access to big city amenities. If you live there, you might want to have a car especially if you commute into Salt Lake City often. Also, there is a bus line that runs from one city to the other.
Residents of Magna tend to be outdoor lovers which makes sense cause its located somewhere with easy access to desert, lakes and mountains. Most of the annual events in Magna take place outside; a town favorite is the Movies and Music in the Park Series at Pleasant Green Park.
