Situated almost a mile high at the mouth of Salt Creek Canyon, Nephi marks the far southern tip of the beautiful Wasatch Front. Like the rest of the Wasatch Front, Nephi was founded in the mid-nineteenth century by Mormon settlers. Indeed, the town's name comes straight from the Book of Mormon, in which the eponymous prophet leads his family from Jerusalem to the Americas, establishing his own city of the same name. Surrounded by farmland and mountain vistas, Nephi is a peaceful, pleasant town and an ideal place for families.
Most Nephi homes are owner-occupied, with a large amount owned by single families. South Nephi: This area is pretty rural but is easy to get to from I-15. Residents love being close to Lisa's Country Kitchen. It's pretty much all single-family homes with big, grassy lawns.
North Nephi: The North Side of town is close to the Canyon Hills Golf Course and City Park. Reed's Drive Inn and Taco Time are two of the local favorite restaurants. You won't find too many rentals on this side of town but there are few small apartment complexes that will have openings from time to time.
Nephi doesn't boast the most lively downtown on the Wasatch Front, but it lies within just thirty minutes of Springville and forty minutes of Provo, each of which have plenty to offer when it comes to shopping, dining and entertainment. Salt Lake City, an hour and twenty minutes away, boasts even more options, including a vibrant nightlife and a plenitude of cultural and historic attractions. Meanwhile, right at Nephi's doorstep is Mount Nebo, the tallest peak of the Wasatch Range, offering gorgeous hiking trails. Much less strenuous is the beautiful drive along the Nebo Loop National Scenic Byway. Every summer since 1934, Nephi has also hosted the Ute Stampede Rodeo, one of Utah's cultural highlights.
