Welcome to Independent Hill, Virginia, the community whose exact description is hard to define. Independent Hill is made up mostly of homes with very few businesses, but has no municipal body. It is referred to as a community within Manassas, Virginia. Surrounded by woods and beautiful homes, Independent Hill is a place with changing borders. The community is unincorporated, so it has no exact boundaries and no government to speak of, but you wouldn't dare refer to it as a village. The Census Bureau refers to it as a Census Designated Place (CDP), which means that they have to count the people there but they have no idea how to categorize them demographically, which is just as well since the good folks there could change their borders at any time and through the whole demographic issue into upheaval for the Census Bureau.
Moving to Independent Hill
There are not many city apartments for rent simply because there isn't much "city" to rent from in the 8.94 square miles that make up this community until the borders get changed again. Most of the homes in Independent Hill are large homes that are not rented, but owned. However, if you are looking for 3 bedrooms houses for rent, you might get more than you bargained for here. These homes tend to boast an average of nine rooms each, so finding a 3 bedroom home isn't going to be as difficult as it might be in another area.
Of course, paying for that rental property might be another issue. If you happen to be looking for the kind of home with multiple bedrooms, an enormous yard and a country setting with no farming, you've come to the right place. Your best bet here is to find a nice house for rent, so if you're looking for city apartments, Independent Hill isn't your place. Just make sure that your car is in good shape because the average commute to work from this community is around an hour for one way.

Independent Hill has only one main neighborhood to really speak of, it's that small. This can be seen as a huge advantage, as having multiple sprawling communities can just make things more complicated and inconvenient. The overall feel of Woodbine Woods is quiet, lush and perfect for relaxing away from the bustle of big city life.
Woodbine Woods: A small suburb inside of the limits of Independent, Virginia, it's in a sense Independent's main (and only) neighborhood. As you might guess by the name, the houses here are surrounded by woods. The WalkScore is 15 / 100 in Woodbine Woods, so don't expect to just stroll into town to catch a movie. Having your own transportation here is a must.
Life in Independent Hill
The good news is, if you are entertained by walking around in the woods or strolling through neighborhoods with beautiful homes, you will probably get a lot of enjoyment out of finding a house to rent here. Thankfully, this community isn't far from State Route 234, so you have easy access to the larger cities in the area. As far as utilities and security is concerned, you can rely on Verizon and ADT to meet your needs.
