City Guide for Birch Bay, WA

The community of Birch Bay was named by a man called Archibald Menzies back in 1792. Menzies was a key member of the Vancouver Expedition, which used two ships to explore the surrounding coastline. Birch Bay was used as an anchoring spot for a few days along the way. Menzies took note of many species of birch trees growing in Birch Bay, and that was how he came up with the name.
