Chehalis is a city in Lewis County, Washington with a population of 7,259. It's a friendly and fun-loving small town with a vibrant history and a quaint downtown area. The community has been steadily growing, and more and more people are coming here to find apartments! There are heaps of things to do here. The Chehalis-Centralia Railroad & Museum is a beautifully restored 1916 steam locomotive that you can hop on to take a scenic tour through the river valley! You can also head to the Veterans Memorial Museum, which honors war veterans and has a special exhibit on the 9/11 attack.
Anyone interested in coming to Chehalis to find apartment homes for rent will be happy to know that the city is chock full of 'em. Almost half the homes here are rentals, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding one bedroom apartments or a nice studio apartment or whatever you may be in the market for. The other great part about living here is that housing is relatively cheap for this area. The median home cost is just slightly above the national median, but way below the median for Washington! You're also only a short drive to Olympia, but you get to save heaps of money on rent.
When you start looking for apartments here, ask yourself exactly what kind of place you want. It will really help move your search along quickly if you know exactly what you're looking for and can target your hunt in a specific direction. Then you can start poking around online to see what's available or else reach out to a realtor or broker for help looking. It can be a lot easier and less time-consuming to have a broker help you, but be aware that they can sometimes charge a hefty fee. When you go to view apartments, make sure you have all your leasing documents with you so you can start the application process if need be. This includes a copy of your ID, your credit report, bank statements, pay stubs, letter of employment, references and whatever else your landlord might request from you.
This city is quite small and doesn't have any discernible neighborhoods. But here's one piece of advice: if you want to live within walking distance of local businesses, pick a home right off Interstate 5. And if you want to find apartments here, you will have lots to choose from. Just some of your options include Chehalis Valley Apartments and Providence Place.
It's a good idea to visit the Lewis County Historical Museum here before you head for a stroll downtown to see the historic buildings and charming boutiques and cafes, like The Shire and the Devilfish Public House. You can also head to the Westside for an awesome shopping experience with big stores and family-friendly restaurants. In order to stay in line with their green initiatives, Chehalis has put in a new walking and biking trail system in town and in the countryside to encourage more people to walk or bike around town and for exercise.
If you like fresh greens, head to the Community Farmer's Market during the summertime to get your fresh fixings for dinner. Every year, the town hosts a Santa Parade in December to get people ready for Christmas! And you certainly don't want to miss the city's Garlic Fest & Craft Show, which is held every August. There you can sample everything from garlic cheese to garlic ice cream!
When you get a house or apt for rent in Chehalis, you'll be living in a gorgeous, very rural part of Washington State and there are a lot of great ways to spend your time! You can even drive out to the water and take in some of the beautiful landscape and shoreline views from Willapa bay and Grays Harbor. It's no wonder that seafood is so popular here with such easy access to the deep blue waters of the Pacific. It's a little too cold to swim most of the year, but it's worth the drive just for the views alone. Plus you'll only be a short drive away from Olympia, which has all kinds of things to see and do!
