If you are good at telling a tall tale then, you will, no doubt, be a good fit for the Burlington, Wisconsin community.
The Burlington Liars' Club was founded in Burlington, first established in 1929. At that time two reporters concocted a story about awarding a medal for the year's best lie. Reporters Manuel Hahn and Otis Hulett presented a news story about a lying competition that was going on between the fire and police departments in town. According to the journalists, the winner of the rivalry was the police chief who wholeheartedly denied that he had ever lied. The club was closed by Hulett in 1979 but, not wanting to break with tradition, the Chamber of Commerce reopened the club's doors in 1980.
Today, the village atmosphere still prevails if you are looking for a Burlington home for rent. An apartments locator can lead you to a 1 bedroom apartment for rent, two bedroom apartments for rent, 3 bedroom apartments, and luxury apartments too. You can also find rental houses that may "fit the bill" (or your price range) when you search online.
Community Amenities
Most apartments in the community come equipped with all the expected apartment amenities, including such community add-ons as pool, fitness center, business center, and, in some instances, gated access.
Popular Rental Features
Apartment residents also enjoy oversized closets, the use of a car port, washer and dryers in units, and kitchens outfitted with black or stainless steel appliances, shiny steel sinks, and granite countertops. If you have a pet, you can include him too in your household as many apartments are pet-friendly residences.
Moving to Burlington should not be a trial, provided you are organized. Most experienced movers suggest that you start planning your move approximately two months ahead of schedule. Therefore, you will need to get rid of anything you won't be taking with you and start gathering packing supplies eight weeks beforehand. Include such packing essentials as bubble wrap, boxes, and those all-important markers.
You will also need to look at your budget. Decide whether you will hire movers or if you will be doing the move yourself. If you do hire a moving company, find out if they will also include packing in their estimate. Talk to family members and friends as well to gain the moving assistance you need. A moving checklist can be downloaded from the Microsoft website to assist you in moving-related activities.
The pricier or the more popular neighborhoods in Burlington are made up of the Powers Lake area, the section bounded by South Honey Lake Road and Spring Prairie Road, the Browns Lake and Bohners Lake section of town, and the city center. Burlington itself comes in 83rd among Wisconsin cities and towns according to size.
Powers Lake: This section of town, which is rural in nature, features such outdoor leisure sites as the Bony Recreation Area and PaddockLake. Rental prices are affordable and commuters, for the most part, take their own cars to work.
South Honey Lake Road / Spring Prairie Road: This neighborhood is notable as it is close to the BurlingtonMunicipalAirport (great for those weekend getaways) and is also close to the LogicPuzzleMuseum. The area is also home to popular BrownsLake.
Browns Lake and Bohner Lake: Browns Lake sits to the northeast of this popular neighborhood, making this rural community a noteworthy location for those who like to boat and fish.
City Center: The rents in the city center neighborhood are lower than over half of the rents in the state, thereby making it a good locale for anyone who is looking for affordable housing.
A Chocolate-friendly Locale
Because it is home to the Nestl chocolate factory, Burlington is often called ChocolateCity. Located in both Racine and Walworth counties, most of Burlington's area is situated in Racine. The population at the last census count was close to 10,500 people.
Early, Early History
Before Europeans settled in the Burlington, mounds, built by Native Americans, were part of the area landscape. A village of the Potawatomi tribe was located in what is now Burlington at the time. Europeans began their migration into the region in the autumn of 1799. French expeditionary leader Francis Morgan de Vereceones led explorers, via the Fox River, into the then MichiganTerritory (it became part of the WisconsinTerritory in 1836). Settlers made jackknife claims to the land toward the end of 1835, imprinting their names and the date, by knife, on nearby trees in order to grab their interest in the real estate.
Making it Official - The Village Becomes a City
More settlers arrived in the area the next year, most of whom were from New England. Because of its location close to the Fox River, the settlement was called Foxville. However, residents agreed to change the name to Burlington (named for Burlington in Vermont), making the name official in 1839. Almost fifty years later, in 1886, Burlington became an incorporated village. At the turn of the 20th century, its status changed to that of a city.

John's Main Event and Adrian's Frozen Custard are favorites in this locale as well.
