Finding a Rental in Pewaukee
It is going to be a lot easier to find a rental in some parts of the city than others. Fortunately, Pewaukee has options throughout various neighborhoods in the city, so whether you're looking for studio apartments for rent or large five-bedroom rental houses, you're likely to find what you want if you stay on top of listings and act fast.
If you are looking for apartments for rent in Pewaukee, you can find anything from studios to spacious four-bedrooms. While many of the single-family homes are owner-occupied, some are available to renters, and there are also townhouses for rent. There is a good variety of rental houses for a suburb just 20 minutes outside of a large city.
Rent as soon as you find a vacancy. To get the best rental, fast reflexes and the ability to make quick decisions and commitments wouldn't hurt. A big chunk of change wouldn't hurt either. Other things that would be wise to have on hand are copies of your ID, letters of references (personal and business), a credit report, and something to prove you can afford rent like your bank statement or tax papers.
Pewaukee Neighborhoods
Many of the single-family homes were built in the 1970s and 1980s, so you'll find a lot of "California Modern" architecture in some of the older city sections. Businesses along the shore tend to take on more of a "on the Cape" look, and newer apartment buildings give the town an incoherent feel. But at least there are options for every taste, right?
Five Fields: This is one of the more walkable areas in Pewaukee, with shops and restaurants sharing block space with plenty of apartments (studios to four-bedrooms) and townhouses for rent.
Spring Hills: Part of the arts and theater district, Spring Hills has some of the smaller single-family homes and townhouses available, but most are owner-occupied.
Oak Springs: This neighborhood is right next to Spring Hills with few rental options. But there's plenty of restaurants such as Michael's House of Prime Rib and Wildflowers Restaurant.
Springdale Estates: Mostly medium to large homes. If Spring Hills and Oak Springs are the "urban sophisticates" of Pewaukee, then Springdale Estates is perfect for the "Leave it to Beaver" crowd.
Beach Park and Rocky Point: These are two distinct neighborhoods, but close enough to lump them together here. They are both on the southwestern corner of the lake, and while there are not a ton of rental options in these 'hoods, this is where the lakeside pubs are found. Yay, for beer at Sandbar Sports Pub and Delafield Brewhaus.
Living in Pewaukee
The town has so many great activities, like concerts on the beach, ski shows, festivals and lots of great little pubs and restaurants. Once someone moves in, they tend to never leave. Move in in time for the Celticfest or Halloween Fun Fest or Holiday Festival.
You'll need a car. While some of the neighborhoods are within walking distance of shops and restaurants, if you're planning to hold a job while living in Pewaukee, expect to have a commute between 15 to 30 minutes.
