It's called Weston, and lies on the east side of the Wausau, Wisconsin metro area. Until 1905 it included Rib Mountain, which is to the west. It was called Eau Claire from 1856 until 1859, when the name was changed to Weston. Ironically, the present-day town of Eau Claire is about an hour's drive west.
The wooded plain where the Eau Claire River meets and flows into the Wisconsin River is where the suburbs of Wausau meet the open farmland and forest plots that are distinctive to this part of the Midwest. Here's where you will find the Village of Weston, with lots of green space, developed neighborhoods with a nice mix of housing, light industrial, and retail establishments. It's a land of continental weather extremes and all-American fun. From playing on the river to enjoying a great barbecue with friends or family, it's classic Americana. Just grab some apple pie or a hot dog and watch a baseball game!
Moving to Weston
Weston is a favorite spot for people moving into the area, so plan ahead if that's where you want to put down your wagon. Make a list and then take a look at the properties you are interested in, scratching from the list as you come across any that aren't a good fit. Be it price, neighborhood, or amenities, having more time to search means having more choices.
Find apartments in Weston by methodically working through your list. While some properties are willing to offer incentives like a discount on the first month or the like, be prepared to have to supply funds for the first and last month's rent. A house rental may require a security deposit as well. Of course, most moving takes place during the summer -- if you can, try looking for a place when it's cold out -- you might land a great deal.

Kennedy Park: The west part of well, Weston, is home to Kennedy Park and the nearest part of town to the Wisconsin River. A few of the homes here are built two to a lot, making it a great place to search for a duplex for rent.
Robinwood: One of the newer sections of town is here, located around Robinwood Park, just north of Highway 29. Here, you will find mostly single-family homes and an area with commercial and light industrial structures. A few blocks to the north is the Weston Dog Park, where you can take Fido and let him play with abandon.
Green Acres / Camp Phillips: The largest single feature in this part of the community is the Green Acres Mobile Park. There are also a couple of complexes nearby where you would likely find a one- bedroom apartment for rent or a nice pad with all bills paid.
North of the River: Mostly the newest part of Weston, it's primarily single-family homes with larger floor plans and nice sized lots. Of course, that means more grass to mow! Machmueller Park denotes the eastern edge of town, beyond which is farmland.
South Weston: Mostly rural, down here is where town gives way to farmland and forest. The homes in this part of the village tend to be on larger lots and may be more inclined to allow animals and pets. The Kronenwetter Forest Unit is just to the south, with hiking trails and equestrian trails as well for horseback-riding enthusiasts.
